THE INCREDIBLY BRIEF STORY OF HOW WE GOT SCREWED - BY PAUL KRUGMAN
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/07/opinion/krugman-confronting-the-malefactors.html?ref=paulkrugman

In the first act, bankers took advantage of deregulation to run wild (and pay themselves princely sums), inflating huge bubbles through reckless lending. In the second act, the bubbles burst — but bankers were bailed out by taxpayers, with remarkably few strings attached, even as ordinary workers continued to suffer the consequences of the bankers’ sins. And, in the third act, bankers showed their gratitude by turning on the people who had saved them, throwing their support — and the wealth they still possessed thanks to the bailouts — behind politicians who promised to keep their taxes low and dismantle the mild regulations erected in the aftermath of the crisis.

Given this history, how can you not applaud the protesters for finally taking a stand?

This WTF brought to you by, Izzazu, where bad Pittsburgh hair goes to dye.

Yo WTF'ers!

After umpteen years in the news biz I can assure you of the following: the nicer the weather gets, the less people care about "news," and the more the news media struggles to find something that somebody might give a crap about.

But on a warm sunny day, nobody gives a crap.

You can spot this phenomenon when the media beats to death stuff that just doesn't matter.

Case in point: Barack n' Roll's comments about the private sector "doing just fine."

CBSNEWS.COM:
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-57450092-503544/with-obamas-gaffes-romney-has-a-choice/
(CBS News) On June 8, 2012, President Obama declared "The private sector is doing just fine"--and the Chaos Muppets were released. Every Republican official and piece of the GOP firmament issued a press release saying this proved the president was out of touch.

This is reaching. But more to the point, nobody cares. Obviously Barack Hussein would have to be insane not to recognize that the economy still sucks. He not only knows it still sucks, he's deathly afraid it will continue to suck and suck the life out of his re-election effort.

Here's something else nobody cares about. Mittens Romney fired back at Barack, saying we don't need more firefighters, teachers, or police.

And the Dems said "aha, he doesn't care about these noble creatures, da bastard!"

And nobody cares about that either.

Although I would like to point out that the notion that there is something dishonorable about being on the public dime is nonsense. A job is a job, and it counts and it matters, whether you're a little tiny businessman who creates his own gig, or a teacher, putting up with snotty, mouthy punks, trying to transfer some actual knowledge into their brain damaged craniums.

This kind of nobody-cares-argument was on the front pages over the weekend, was beaten to death on the who-gives-a-crap Sunday talk shows (which used to matter but in the 24/7 cable beat-it-to-death-iverse no longer do), and was STILL the subject of yammering on the morning shows this morning.

SLOW. NEWS. DAY.

And even though we're droning terrorists and undeserving civilians to death in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and Europe's economy is crashing which could cause ours to crash again, and Syria is killing innocents like it's going out of style, that's just too far away for us to really give a crap about.

Instead of drones being the unmanned airborne vehicles that drops bombs on terrorists and wedding parties, they are, in the public mind, the members of the news media itself, droning on about the same old who-gives-a-crap crap.

It's nobody's fault, really. Or maybe it's everybody's fault. But that's just how it is.

I don't know what the answer is. Maybe find a way to make real news sexier.

Topless drones?

I need to noodle on this.

IN OTHER WHO GIVES A CRAP BLOGGERY....

*Stop posting inspirational messages on Facebook. If you're looking to Facebook for guidance you're already a loser. Find the bridge. Jump.

*One inspirational message on FB says I have to give up the need to always be right.

*But what if I give it up, and yet it just keeps happening? What then, Bub?

*The same list says I need to give up the need to complain.

*Why don't you just ask me to stop breathing? I'm an American. I LIVE to complain.

*Even now I'm complaining about some jackass telling me to stop complaining!

*Life's a bitch, bitch, bitch.

*I watched a movie about Texans struggling for independence from Mexico. Nobody had a southern accent.

*So when and why did they start talkin' stupid?

*A terrorist group offered ten camels for info on the whereabouts of Barack and two camels for Hillary.

*These sexist terrorists today. Hillary is worth an equal amount of camels!

*Do the humpty hump. Remember that song? No? Hmmm...

*Are birds allowed on Twitter, or would that screw up the time/space continuum?

*If you want to follow Cher on Twitter, do you have to be gay?

*I'm starting an anti-social network called Bitter. You're automatically a member by not joining.

*I'm following Dick Cheney on Bitter.

*A funeral home is now following me on Twitter. Awesome. What's next Beelzebub and the Grim Reaper?

*Just clipped my toenails. Just washed my hands. Just took a breath. Just flipped the channel. Just had a mindless thought. Just put it on Facebook. #StayTuned #MoreInanityStill2Come

*"God, kin, and country" wanted to follow me on Twitter. I blocked. Just doesn't sound like there's a great deal of compatibility there.
