In the first act, bankers took advantage of deregulation to run wild (and pay themselves princely sums), inflating huge bubbles through reckless lending. In the second act, the bubbles burst — but bankers were bailed out by taxpayers, with remarkably few strings attached, even as ordinary workers continued to suffer the consequences of the bankers’ sins. And, in the third act, bankers showed their gratitude by turning on the people who had saved them, throwing their support — and the wealth they still possessed thanks to the bailouts — behind politicians who promised to keep their taxes low and dismantle the mild regulations erected in the aftermath of the crisis.

Given this history, how can you not applaud the protesters for finally taking a stand?

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) -- Former Vice President Dick Cheney walked onstage without any assistance and spoke for an hour and 15 minutes without seeming to tire in his first public engagement since he underwent a heart transplant three weeks ago.

"He has been an unmitigated disaster to the country," Cheney said of President Barack Obama.

The Bush/Cheney years climaxed with the worst economic disaster since the great depression. We're still in Afghanistan now because we took our eye off the ball with the disastrous war in Iraq, a country which did not attack us, which we thought we should invade anyway.

If there is an administration in modern times that could fairly be characterized as an unmitigated disaster it is the Bush/Cheney gang that couldn't shoot straight.

Oh, and by the way, Dick. Osama bin Laden is dead now. Had you geniuses gone in with sufficient U.S. troops instead of relying on Afghan surrogates, he would have been dead years ago. But it's OK. Those "communists" in the Democratic party, who are allegedly so soft on Defense, cleaned up your little mess.

Now go have a few beers, be extremely bitter that history has judged your administration as one of the worst in history, and do a lot of muttering to yourself. Look up "unmitigated disaster" in the dictionary, and you will find your own countenance, along with that of your boss, that fellow who resembles a chimpanzee.

GOOD HILLARY/BAD HILARY

Hilary Rosen is a major league screw up. She is a "Democratic Strategist," whatever that means. She is NOT affiliated with the Democratic National Committee or the Obama campaign.

But she went on CNN and declared that Mittens' gal, Ann Romney, has "never worked a day in her life." Bill Maher has pointed out that Ann never had to get her ass out the door, as it were.

I totally agree. However, Hilary Rosen is still a major league screwup, who handed the GOP a gift. Obama is so far ahead with independent women he could literally coast to victory on their backs. The only thing that could blow it is idiots like Hilary Rosen. I've heard many credible liberals defend Hilary as a great person who has kids she adopted and is a hard worker and a great human and blah blah blah.

"Never worked a day in her life," to describe a person who has had to deal with Multiple Sclerosis and breast cancer, in addition to bearing and raising five kids, is just plain idiotic.

Amateurs should not be allowed to speak for the Democratic ticket in this crucial election cycle.

I know you didn't mean it Hilary. I know you just meant real working women lead scary lives, frightened that they can't pay the bills, afford health care, etc.

But this was seriously stupid. Shut up Hilary. Go away. We don't need you.

It was diplomats gone wild in Colombia last night, as Hillary Clinton partied like it was spring break -- knocking back a beer and tearing up the dance floor to Cuban music at a local club.


She had to talk the Big O into leading from behind in Libya. She bit her nails after Barack n' Roll decided to roll the dice big time and try to get Osama. She had to endure the endless humiliation of that whole little blue dress scandal thing ( you might have heard about it).

If ever there was a girl who deserved to kick back, throw down a few beers, and git jiggy widdit on da dance flo, it's our girl Hillary, the hardest working woman in show business.

IN THE MEANTIME, GUYS LIKE HOOKERS

I have never rented a girl. But I've always thought prostitution should be legal.

Apparently it is legal in Colombia, which is why it was apparently easy to find hookers and rent them for members of the Secret Service.

Remember when you could be serviced and it remained a secret?

So when a dozen or so SS agents rented hookers in Colombia while doing advance work (so to speak) for President Obama's visit, how did they screw it up so that it went public?

Apparently one of the hookers complained. She got stiffed. So to speak.

So far, 11 agents have been suspended with pay for the reported debauchery at the Hotel Caribe in the Caribbean resort town. The shenanigans came to light after one of the agents allegedly refused to pay his hooker as little as $47 for their romp — prompting a call to local cops.

OMG. Idiot. 47 smackers? 47 greenbacks? 47 dolleros? Chump change, and you cheap out?

In this day and age when everyone seems to get caught no matter what they do, you can't risk public exposure over chicken feed. You moron.

Maybe we should get somebody smarter to protect the President.

PREDICTIONS


The 2012 election? Obama in a squeaker. Barry O wins Ohio.

Why? The Ritchie Rich effect. I heard all these guys earning six figure salaries on Morning Joe saying the class warfare thing doesn't work.

Um, it doesn't work if you've been employed and untouched by the recession. You big time big mouth big shots can't possibly relate. If you didn't sweat it you just don't get it.

Yes the Buffett rule will have a tiny impact on the deficit, it it were passed. But questions of basic fairness persist. Why should Warren Buffett pay less as a percentage of his income in taxes than his secretary? Screw the impact on the deficit, how is that right?

It's not. And real Americans have been punched in the face by this recession and they like this populist talk and this fixing the tax code for the sake of fairness.

Most of us aren't rich. We don't care if rich people have to give more money to the government. We kinda like the idea.

Six figure pundits can yammer on about class warfare. If you were screwed by the recession, caused in no small part by rich people messing with the lives of poor people while getting rich on Wall Street, you're not likely to vote for a guy with perfect hair who has elevators for his automobiles.

Populism rings hollow for wealthy folk, who feel that they work too, and they count toO. And they do. And they do. But there aren't enough of them.

Obama in a sqUeaker.

And who will Mittens pick for his Veep? Ohio Senator Rob Portman.

Portman, a seasoned politician, has a strong background in economics – he was the director of the Office of Management and Budget – which could add to Romney's economy-first platform.
"The question is, 'is Portman too safe a choice?'" Skelley said, adding that Portman wouldn't bring any diversity to the ticket.

You can't have "too safe a choice" for Mittens. He is all about "safe." If the GOP were in a feisty mood, they wouldn't be nominating the Ken Doll who fired your father, who put the man in mannequin.

Everyone else on the short list might overshadow Mittens.

Barry O's margin of victory in Ohio will be tighter. But he will prevail.

When all this turns out to be true, remember, you heard it here first.

If it ends up not being true, remember, I can delete all of this and deny I ever said it.
